Resources for contemplating God’s goodness & glory

Three thousand years ago King David wrote,

I have asked one thing from the Lord;
it is what I desire:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
gazing on the beauty of the Lord
and seeking him in his temple.

How do you gaze on the beauty of the Lord?

What does it look like to dwell in the house of the Lord?

How do we “fix our eyes on Jesus” like the Hebrews writer said we should or abide in Christ as He commands us in John 15?

These are the questions we’re committed to answering.

Hazefire Studios exists to provide today’s Christian with modern pathways into the ancient art of contemplation.

Whether you’re meditating on Yahweh’s faithfulness in an episode of Holy Ghost Stories, rediscovering God’s playfulness in The Happiest Saddest People, or charting Yahweh’s provision in the book of Exodus as you study Bonfire with your small group, every Hazefire resource offers an invitation into (and example of) gazing at God and dwelling in his house.

Holy Ghost Stories Live Shows

Spirit-filled storytelling, compelling worship. An encounter with God Himself.

It’s hard to describe what happens at a Holy Ghost Stories Live Show, but here’s the way it usually unfolds: Holy Ghost Stories creator Justin Gerhardt tells a story from Scripture. He’s accompanied by world class musicians. The crowd listens. The room disappears inside the story. God speaks and moves. Worship blooms.

We’ve seen that pattern over and over and over. Tears are cried. Lives are upended and rerouted. People walk away glowing with the radiance of their Father’s face.

Maybe it’s not surprising that God would so faithfully find His people through His stories. But we’re delighted every single time it happens.

Holy Ghost Stories performs in all kinds of rooms to all kinds of groups—churches, conferences, non-profit fundraisers, schools, prisons, you name it. And shows range from intimate to epic.

The Hazefire Team

Justin Gerhardt

FOUNDER, STORYTELLING PARTNER

Justin Gerhardt is the president of Hazefire Studios and the creator of Holy Ghost Stories—an episodic, immersive telling of the stories of the Old Testament with an emphasis on character and craft.

After pursuing his education in philosophy and Biblical studies, Justin served for 20 years as a senior pastor and preacher before sensing a call to make use of the creative arts to bring people into fresh encounters with God. To cut costs and seek inspiration during this time, he embarked on a 2 year long season of global nomadism with his family—it was during this time that Holy Ghost Stories would take shape. The places they called home include the south coast of England, a Croatian island, South Africa’s Western Cape, central Belfast, the mountains of southern France, Ireland’s northernmost tip, and the Sinai Wilderness in Egypt. Upon returning to the States, they unpacked their bags and made the Ozarks their home base.

JL Gerhardt

JL has more than a decade of experience speaking at conferences, retreats, and events. She has an MA in English from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She’s a former English lecturer and newspaper journalist.
